2009 was a classic Napa Valley vintage. The vines produced a crop with dense structure and deep complexity after the low yield 2008 vintage.
The four varieties were hand-picked and fermented separately with gentle fermentation techniques resulting in wine of great depth and complexity. We selected the finest barrels of each lot to create the Phenomenon blend. The wine matured for 24 months in new and once-used French oak barrels before bottling without fining or filtration.
This deep red, voluptuously textured wine entrances with its richly layered flavors. Scents of blackberry and cedar play off of each other, complemented by spiec box notes including clove and allspice. Velvety smooth and supple tannins along with a balanced acidity foretell a long life for this wine for those able to resist its youthful charm. - Matt Reid, Winemaker
