THE 2010 VINTAGE
Cool temperatures in 2010 led to a long growing season. A post-verasion heat spike briefly accelerated ripening before cooler than normal temperatures returned, allowing the grapes to ripen at their leisure.
The four varieties were hand-picked and fermented separately with gentle fermentation techniques resulting in wine of great depth and complexity. We selected the finest barrels of each lot to create the Phenomenon blend. The wine matured for 24 months in new and once-used French oak barrels before bottling without fining or filtration.
Our 2010 Phenomenon is the hallmark of elegance and grace. The wine is intense and concentrated, with aromas of red currant and cassis, rose petal, violets and a hint of tobacco. The Cabernet Sauvignon contributes fine-grained tannins and rich flavors of blackberry and cedar. Sangiovese contributes brighter red fruit flavors such as Bing cherry and strawberry. The Syrah adds a hint of smokiness while the Merlot provides lush plum flavors. These complex flavors dance and weave on the palate throughout the very long finish.
Enjoy this wine with a grilled porterhouse steak served with broccolini or rapini, polenta, stewed white beans and porcini mushrooms.
