THE 2013 VINTAGE
Expectations were high for the 2013 vintage, following the success of 2012, and Mother Nature did not disappoint. Warm spring weather led to an early bloom, and the lack of rainfall during the period allowed for good set. Moderate weather prolonged the growing season, and the grapes delivered beautiful flavors and mature tannins.
The four varieties were hand-picked and fermented separately with gentle fermentation techniques resulting in wine of great depth and complexity. We selected the finest barrels of each lot to create the Phenomenon blend. The wine matured for 18 months in new and once-used French oak barrels before bottling.
The intensity of the purple color of this wine is matched by the overwhelmingly lush aromatic qualities. The wine exudes captivating, kaleidoscopic aromas of Bing cherry, blackberry, blueberry, allspice, clove, leather, and mace. On the palate it displays a fine grip with notes of melted chocolate, vanilla, and toasty oak.
Enjoy this wine with a grilled, simply seasoned porterhouse steak served with broccolini or rapini, polenta, stewed white beans and porcini mushrooms.
