Despite the ongoing statewide drought, Napa Valley received close to the average rainfall in 2015-16. More than 12” fell in March 2016, ensuring that the vines had ample water as they emerged from dormancy. The growing season was considerable cooler than in the previous two vintages, allowing us to harvest beautifully ripened grapes at the end of a long growing season.
Sorridente means “smiling” and that is what we do while assembling this blend. Once the component wines have settled in the cellar to reveal their character, we select the brightest, cheeriest barrels from each lot and make many trial blends until we find the one that will leave a smile on your face.
This blend is comprised of some of our favorite lots and is sure to leave you smiling. It offers aromas of blueberry pie, ripe blackberry and candied strawberry. The wine has wonderful balance, good acidity and a very pleasant, aromatic finish. It is silky and satiny with hints of dark chocolate.
Enjoy with pasta in a hearty red sauce, baked ziti, pecorino Toscano or Asiago, or simply sip and smile with friends.
