VINTAGE
The 2019 growing season was a roller coaster that kept us on our toes, but resulted in beautiful wines. Spring precipitation persisted through bloom and berry set, but the weather had little impact on our yields. As summer progressed, our typical heat spikes failed to appear, allowing berry flavors to develop slowly, and leading to one of our longest harvests on record. We picked at optimal ripeness and are thrilled with our young wines.

WINEMAKING
Our Merlot and 3 Cabernet Sauvignon Clones were harvested and fermented separately. Merlot thrives at our site and the three Cabernet Sauvignon clones contribute to the blend with the bold tannins of Clone 4, the grace and elegance of Clone 30, and the intense concentration of Clone 6. Fermenting each component separately allows us to maximize color and tannin extraction.

TASTING NOTES
This richly powerful wine offers a heady blend of aromas including baking spices, cedar, cardamom and clove. Blackberry, pomegranate, and blackcurrant notes come through on the nose and palate. The wine is juicy and ebullient, with the spice notes dominant. The finish is long, complex, and ever-evolving, promising a long life ahead for this wine.
