VINTAGE NOTES
The 2021 growing season was blessed by late winter rains that replenished our soil moisture as the vines emerged from dormancy. A cold spring led to a slower start for the vines, but we avoided any frost danger. Summer growing conditions were exceptional, with consistent weather and blue skies ushering in a Goldilocks summer that was not too hot and not too cold. We are thrilled with the quality of the grapes from the outstanding 2021 vintage.
WINEMAKING
The fruit for this wine was grown in the Oak Knoll District, just north of the city of Napa, where the temperatures are notably cooler than at our Estate St. Helena Vineyard. The moderate weather helps heighten the rich aromatics of Pinot Grigio, while retaining a bright acidity that provides a clean and refreshing finish.
TASTING NOTES
A fascinating mélange of aromas make this wine irresistible, with hints of stone fruit, lychee, Asian pear, mandarin, and a touch of jasmine. The wine is crisp and refreshing with a clean finish. Best from 2022-2024, after which the aromas will soften and hints of caramel and apple will emerge.
PAIRING SUGGESTIONS
Perfect with cantaloupe and prosciutto, or with smokehouse almonds. Enjoy with fusilli smothered in pesto alla Genovese.
