VINTAGE NOTES
The 2022 growing season started early after scant spring rains as our long-running drought continued. Late summer heat spikes further stressed the vines, but we were nevertheless thrilled with the quality of the grapes we brought in, even if yields were lower than hoped.
WINEMAKING
We are thrilled by the return of Pinot Grigio to our estate St Helena Vineyard! Pinot Grigio thrives here and the estate portion of this wine is particularly special. However, the young vines are not yet producing at full capacity so the majority of the wine was produced from grapes in the Clarksburg AVA. Clarksburg is in the Sacramento Delta, which is warm during the day but cooled at night by the Delta Breeze that blows in all the way from San Francisco Bay.
TASTING NOTES
Beguiling aromas of Asian pear Thai basil, honeydew melon and a hint of ginger give way to a crisp but pleasantly voluminous mouthfeel. The lingering finish reveals hints of herbs and flowers from the Mediterranean and Southeast Asia.
PAIRING SUGGESTIONS
Enjoy with Pink Lady apple slices smeared with gorgonzola, a coconut curry with ginger and basil, or spaghetti cacio e pepe.
